Kassandra
and Artemis in Athens
Hello, I spent a month in Athens recently and had to experience first-hand
the terrible state of affairs for strays there. I was feeding
approximately 30 cats in and around the apartment I sublet. There were
two cats in particular that touched my heart and one of the hardest
things I have had to do was to leave them to return to the U.S. Anyway,
I have not been able to stop thinking about "Kassandra" and
"Artemis," so I have decided to return to Athens on August 1 (and
leaving again on August 5) to attempt to find and catch them and then
bring them back with me.
I'm not certain I will be able to locate them again. They used to hang
out in a backyard that can only be accessed from somebody's apartment.
It will also be extremely difficult for one person to
catch them and force them into the carrier. I will also need to find a
vet who can issue a health certificate for them, maybe even during the
weekend.
Is there anything you can do to help me? Most of all I would appreciate
help in entering the backyard and physically holding the carrier or the
cats. I was unsuccessful when attempting this on my own before leaving
in June.
Needless to say, the best thing would be to find a home in Greece for
them (and all the other cats living in Exarcheia--a terrible area to be
a cat); however, my numerous attempts to find families for them there
were unsuccessful.
Regards,
